Tyaela (they/she) is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker, writer, educator, and creative collaborator. Rooted in their Afro-Latinx heritage and queer identity, they create work that centers underrepresented voices and balances authenticity with bold, distinctive storytelling. A graduate of NYU’s Experimental Theatre Wing with an M.S. in Professional Writing, Tyaela combines performance, film, and literature to tell impactful stories. As a teaching artist, they have mentored young filmmakers at Ghetto Film School and Reel Works, helping emerging creatives develop their own voices. They are now excited to bring their creativity and collaborative spirit to a new role in Client Services at Union Editorial.
